the shape shifters are a los angeles underground hip-hop collective rooted in the mid-city graffiti scene, where the group first emerged in the early nineties. founded around la graf writers perk, meck, realm ser and rob 1 of the cbs crew, they built a reputation for genre-bending, eclectic rap music over roughly a decade of activity. their approach drew in members from other los angeles crews and hip-hop collectives, gradually expanding the group's membership and scope. the collective developed a cult following through their distinctly creative, subterranean style.
