protobase

protobase is the berlin-based project of ralf dietze, a former member of protonica who has been active in the global scene for over 30 years. the project combines driving psytrance with melodic trance and goa elements alongside acid sequences, and in 2025 dietze joined the label founded by astrix, releasing a debut protobase track that reached tenth place in the beatport top 100 psy-trance chart. his live sets have featured at festivals including boom, ozora, airbeat one, and fusion. as part of protonica he worked alongside ticon and produced remixes for artists including astrix, and since 2024 has hosted the psytrance gems radio show on a us-based internet radio station.
