paul elstak

dj paul elstak was born in the hague on 14 january 1966 and is a dutch producer and dj of indonesian origin, known for work spanning hardcore gabber and happy hardcore. his career began in 1987 when he became a resident dj at rotterdam's bluetiek-inn discothèque, where he first performed alongside dutch house music figure peter slaghuis. he subsequently joined rob fabrie and richard van naamen to form holy noise, releasing material on slaghuis's hithouse records label; the group's 1991 release "james brown is still alive" became their biggest success. in 1992 he founded his own record label, and later launched offensive records in 2001, at which point he began using both his full name and the shortened "dj paul" across different projects.
