nomad is an english house music group comprising damon rochefort, steve mccutcheon, and sharon d. clarke — the name being damon spelled backwards. in 1990 the group reached number one on the hot dance music/club play chart and number two in the uk singles chart with "(i wanna give you) devotion," credited as nomad featuring mc mikee freedom. rochefort had previously written for black music trade publication blues & soul before moving to smash hits and the sun's bizarre column at age 18, and later went on to write and produce for artists including elton john, rupaul, bad boys inc., michelle gayle, and kim wilde.
