kobi began as a solo project by kai mikalsen, who would occasionally invite friends to contribute to recordings and live performances. the project eventually grew into a full band, settling into a fixed quintet lineup in 2008. the music centers on sound experimentation, collective improvisation, and musical intuition, producing drones and soundscapes.
