boom festival

biennial gathering at a lakeside site in central portugal, running since 1997. the format spans a week across multiple stages covering psytrance, techno, ambient, and world music, with the dance temple floor among the most widely recognized outdoor psytrance stages in the world. attendance reaches around 40,000 across the run.

beyond the dancefloors, the site holds large-scale art installations, a healing area, permaculture programming, and workshops that have been part of the format since its early editions. it ranks among the longest-running and most internationally attended gatherings in the psytrance calendar.
