copenhagen distortion is a five-day citywide celebration of club culture and electronic music that has been running since 1998, growing from a single street party into one of northern europe's largest urban festival formats. it spreads across multiple neighborhoods through a combination of free street parties, ticketed outdoor stages (distortion x), nightly club events, and a two-day closing rave on the former industrial harbour island of refshaleøen known as distortion ø.
the format moves through the city across the week before converging on the harbour site for the weekend finale, which draws the largest crowds and the most club-oriented programming. the music spans techno, trance, and adjacent electronic genres, with the ø finale functioning as the event's main rave component.
