shambhala music festival

shambhala is an annual independent electronic music festival held on a private family-owned ranch in the mountains of british columbia, running continuously since 1998. the site carries multiple permanent stages, each with its own dedicated sound system and distinct curatorial identity, spanning psytrance, breaks, drum and bass, house, techno, and downtempo.

the festival has operated without corporate sponsorship since its founding, with the land and production remaining in the hands of the same family. it draws a large international attendance and is one of the longer-running independently operated festivals of its kind in north america.
